Someone is lending you their money based on the promise you will pay off your cards. However, this can be a catch 22 situation, especially if you are a student. You may be lured into applying for a credit card because you see advertisements promising free student credit cards. But are they really free student credit cards. Is there anything such as a free student credit card, and isn't the term free credit cards redundant to begin with?

The Trap

You pull out your credit card and go on a shopping spree forgetting that it's not money you're really spending, but every time you make a purchase you're promising someone to pay them back, plus a percentage of what you spend. The advertisement for free student credit cards was misleading, causing you to think that this money is just that -- FREE! But it comes back to bite you in the end. Once the damage is done, your credit is shot and you'll be lucky to even be able to pay in cash without having to use two forms of ID. So why do the credit card companies promise you this fake gold? To draw you in.
