Technically, all credit cards are free. There is no charge for applying for one. However, everything that is free is not worth it. With free credit cards, there is a connotation that spending is limitless and there is no need to pay back what you owe. That is how so many people, especially college students, get snared into having bad credit. The offer for free credit cards is so tempting that many people don't read the fine print. The easiest way to build credit without damaging it is to make little purchases and paying the bill off as soon as it comes. It is sad but true.
The last thing you want to do is go overboard and apply for numerous cards. It's hard enough being in debt to one company, why tether yourself to two, three and in some cases four different institutions. Try to take credit seriously.
