When you hear about banks - what immediately comes to mind? Do you think highway robbery - or do you think of endless vaults holding shiny diamonds and enough crisp greenbacks to make you dizzy?

Whatever your spin - whatever your personal experience, the truth of the matter is that banks are here to stay and unless you want to live a life of limited freedom - you should get with the program and use these enterprises to your advantage. Put your money in the banks - that is what is done. There are a variety of ways to do this. You can put your money in a money market account, and watch it grow. Most people have a standard checking account which is pretty standard in making bill payments possible.

Banks can be used for other purposes, as well. When you are in need of a line of credit or a loan, you can apply to banks for these services. If you can prove yourself accountable and credit worthy - you will succeed. In many cases, a candidate may not have the desired credit report with which to secure a loan or line of credit. Many consumers will call on a co-signer at this point in time in order to convince the bank they will have their money returned; in other words, the consumer will become less of a risk if there is a second name attached to the application that will agree to be responsible for the money borrowed in the even that the premier applicant is unable to pay the sum back.

In the credit card department, banks will issue lines of credit with one of the major brands attached to the account. Heavy-hitters include American Express. Amex is a popular choice and once upon a time had a strict policy of requiring card holders to pay back any money used in a line of credit in full at the end of each billing cycle. They have become more lax on this policy and they now have accounts, similar to Visa and Discover, which do not require the full balance to be paid off in full each month. In the popular-bank-issuing arena, topping the charts is Chase - a name to be trusted - and a name to be banked on!
